The adventure starts here

From the King Shaka International Airport, you will be met by your private guide and transferred straight into the heart of Zululand. At the exclusive Red Ivory Lodge, a welcome drink and breathtaking bush view await. Settle in before heading out on a sundowner game drive, where golden light and wildlife set the perfect tone for your stay. End the day with an exquisite chef, followed by an evening under the stars in the fire-lit boma meal prepared by our dedicate

BIG FIVE GUIDED WALKING SAFARI

The first walking safari starts with your feet on the ground — no engines, no barriers, just you and the wild. Accompanied by two expert rangers, you’ll step into Zululand’s untamed landscape, tracking Africa’s Big Five on foot and soaking in the details most safari vehicles miss.

The second walking safari will be in a completely different concession now that you’ve found your footing in the bush. With new terrain comes new challenges, fresh tracks to follow, and the chance to put your growing knowledge to the test. Led by experienced rangers, you’ll navigate diverse landscapes, from dense thickets to open plains, tracking big game and uncovering nature’s intricacies. This is an opportunity to slow down and connect with nature on the ground –– deepening your connection to the wild.

RHINO DEHORNING

The rhino dehorning day starts early — tranquilized rhinos are sensitive to heat, so timing is everything. Setting off before sunrise, a short transfer will take you to meet the veterinarian & conservation team before heading out to track and dart one of these incredible animals. What follows is one of the most hands-on conservation experiences you will ever have: assisting with dehorning, taking blood samples, and cutting new ear notches. You will have the rare opportunity to be as involved as you want. This is where your contribution translates into direct conservation — an opportunity to make a real, lasting impact.

Back at the lodge, relax and take in the day’s experiences over drinks and snacks. For those keen to explore, an evening game drive awaits, followed by a unique cooking experience to round off the day.
